Instructor

coyo

Tsuneharu Morita

He has spent years exploring flatwater freestyle, a discipline still being invented.

coyo teaches at WIZ NATURE Canoe School. As a freestyle kayak competitor he took the overall season title in the men's K-1 class in 2005 (first in the Japan Freestyle Circuit annual ranking), and placed third in the squirt category at the 2004 World Rodeo in Australia.

He keeps exploring flatwater freestyle — building tricks on water with no current — and holds the Guinness World Record for consecutive cartwheels. On moving water his spot play has the same signature: long, unbroken chains of linked moves.

Being a strong paddler and being a good teacher are two different things; coyo does both. Complete beginners start with how to hold the paddle, experienced paddlers get pushed to the next step, and the plan for the day is built around the river conditions and the people in the boats.
